Centre for Independent Journalism, Malaysia (CIJ) is a freedom of expression watchdog and a non-profit organisation that aspires for a society that is democratic, just and free, where all peoples will enjoy free media and the freedom to express, seek and impart information.
Geramm is a loose coalition of media practitioners and supporters of press freedom in Malaysia and across the South East Asian region. Formed in 2014 after the coalition protested the suspension of the now defunct news weekly, The Heat. Since then, their network of #kawangeramm have cut across various media platforms in Malaysia and beyond.
National Union of Journalists Malaysia (NUJM) is an organisation of working journalists in the country representing the industrial, social and welfare interest of some 1,400 journalists. Formed on August 30, 1962 NUJM is the sole authority to negotiate and determine the proper rates of remuneration and other terms and conditions of employment for journalists in various publishing houses which produce Bahasa Melayu, English and Chinese language newspapers and periodicals.
